Awards

I have always had mixed emotions regarding wildlife photography competitions. On the one hand it is exciting to pitch your work against your fellow photographers and very gratifying if you receive an award. However, on the flip side, if you don't receive any recognition, it can be hugely disappointing, especially if what actually goes on to win, in your opinion isn't of the same standard as work you submitted. The caveat to this is that photography like any art form is highly subjective, and judges often look for something new or different. For this reason, I have phases where I don't enter any competitions, and then other times where I enter many. Below are some of my recent successes.
